DAY 1 FRIDAY This evening you will depart London Heathrow on British Airways to Johannesburg (10 hours 55 minutes).

DAY 2 SATURDAY On arrival you will connect with your British Airways flight (operated by Comair) to Windhoek (1 hour 55 minutes). On arrival you will be met and transferred to town (approximately 30 minutes) for your overnight stay at the Olive Grove Guesthouse. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the capital.

DAY 3 SUNDAY AND DAY 4 MONDAY This morning you will be transferred to Eros Airport, Windhoek for your light aircraft to Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp for two nights. The aircraft, usually a Cessna 210 or a Cessna 402 for larger groups - the pilot will stay with the group throughout. It is one hour's flight down to Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp. Activities include a safari down to the very end of the Tsauchab River and the heart of Sossusvlei for those wonderful dune scenes.

The nature drives will take place in 4x4 vehicles, and will also include a visit to Sesriem Canyon. Nature trails on the reserve highlight the unique Namib flora and fauna. (B,L,D each day)

DAY 5 TUESDAY AND DAY 6 WEDNESDAY This morning you will depart Sossusvlei on your flight to Damaraland. The flight takes you over the dunes of the Namib and over Sossusvlei itself for an alternative view from the air and then due westwards to Meob Bay on the Skeleton Coast.

From here on up the coast there is spectacular desert and Skeleton Coast scenery, where the dunes and the desert meet the Atlantic Ocean. The flight up the coast takes you over the site of the Eduard Bolen shipwreck, past Conception Bay and the wreck of the Shaunee, over Sandwich Harbour and its famous lagoon, past the flamingos of Walvis Bay and up to Swakopmund.

Here you are met and transferred to the Walvis Bay Harbour where they set out on a dolphin and seal cruise with the opportunity to see leatherback turtle, sunfish, penguins, dolphins, seals, flamingos, cormorants and other sea birds. You will then stop for a seafood lunch. After lunch you will cruise back to the wharf and be transferred by road to Swakopmund for a short city tour and onto Swakopmund Airport for departure at approximately 1500 hours.

In the afternoon you depart from Swakopmund for a scenic flight further up the Skeleton Coast, past the Cape Cross Seal Colony, before turning east to fly up the Huab River to Damaraland Camp for two nights. Highlights of the stay at Damaraland Camp are nature excursions into the rocky desert in search of the rare and endangered desert elephant and rhino. This is an area where the chances of encountering the elephants is very high. Damaraland is one of the few really good tented camps in the country. All tents have en-suite bathrooms with flush loos, even though the area has water shortages. (B,L,D each day)

DAY 7 THURSDAY AND DAY 8 FRIDAY This morning fly by light aircraft from Damaraland to Ongava Lodge or Ongava Tented Camp for two nights. Highlights are the game drives into Etosha and the night actives, walks and hides on the private reserve. (B,L,D each day)

DAY 9 SATURDAY This morning you will depart Ongava for your flight back to Windhoek, arriving during the afternoon. On arrival you will transfer to the international airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Connect with your British Airways flight to London. (B)

DAY 10 SUNDAY Early morning arrival at London Heathrow.

FRIDAY Today is free to enjoy at your leisure. You might like to take a tour of the city, exploring its recent colonial past, or perhaps visit some of the handicraft workshops that form an integral part of the Namibian economy. A tour of the local townships can be tailored to your interests, including visits that encompass history and culture. (B)

SATURDAYYou will be picked up this morning and driven via Rehoboth, into the Kalahari Desert and the start of your 7-day journey through southern Namibia (400 KM/approximately 5 hours excluding stops). Day’s end finds us on the banks of the Auob River, where an evening at the Auob Lodge and a scenic sunset drive await. (B,D)

SUNDAY Continuing into the Kalahari, you will visit the amazing ‘Quiver Tree’, a plant that has adapted superbly to its harsh environment and whose light, spongy wood was perfect for creating quivers for the San Bushmen. Also visit Keetmanshoop, an old mission station, before continuing via the Naute Dam to view the spectacular northern fringes of the Fish River Canyon (500 KM/ approximately 5 hours 30 minutes excluding stops). MONDAY Today continue to Aus and visit the Aus Information Centre. See desert adapted horses on entering Namib Desert. Enjoy spectacular scenery of the Aus Mountains on an unguided walk. This afternoon there is an opportunity to take a scenic sun downer drive. Overnight at Klein Aus Vista, Desert Horse Inn. (B,D)

TUESDAY See the ever-changing vistas of the desert landscapes when driving along the most beautiful district road in Namibia, the D707 (road conditions permitting). Continue towards Maltahöhe where you will overnight at the Hammerstein Rest Camp. This afternoon you will have time to relax at your lodge. (B,D)

WEDNESDAY Making an early start head for Sossusvlei, where a 4-wheel-drive vehicle takes you deep into the heart of the Namib Desert and one of the most incredible landscapes on earth. Later visit Sesriem Canyon and the village of Solitaire, as we wind our way past the Namib Naukluft Mountains towards the Namib Naukluft Lodge for the evening (350 KM/approximately 4 hours excluding stops). THURSDAY Driving through the Kuiseb Canyon today you continue towards Walvis Bay at the coast. Visit Walvis Bay Lagoon to view the seabirds. The seabird colonies at Walvis Bay lagoon number some 120,000 birds. Continue onwards to Swakopmund for your stay at the Hansa Hotel. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a sun downer drive across the incredible ‘lunar’ landscape. (B,D)

FRIDAY This morning is free for you to explore lovely Swakopmund. Early this afternoon continue inland towards the towns of Usakos and Karibib whre you will have a short visit to a craft market in Okahandja. Finally arrive in Windhoek later this afternoon where you will overnight at the Olive Grove Guesthouse. (B)

SATURDAY This morning is at leisure before your transfer to the airport for your flight on British Airways (operated by Comair) to Johannesburg. Connect with your overnight British Airways flight back to London. (B)

Day 7 Depart early and head north along the Atlantic coast to Cape Cross, where in 1486 Diego Cao from Portugal became the first European to set foot in Namibia. Cape Cross is now home to around 10,000 cape fur seals. Continuing north, enter the Skeleton Coast Park, famous for shipwrecks, and into Damaraland (500 KM/approximately 9 hours with stops). Stay for 2 nights at Grootberg Lodge (standard) or at Damaraland Camp (luxury). Day 8 Early morning mists generated by the clash between the icy Atlantic Ocean and the warm desert air of the Skeleton Coast, drift inland along the river sand canyon, providing sustenance to the flora and fauna of the region. Although wildlife is not concentrated, Damaraland is situated where the rare desert elephant roams, alongside gemsbok, springbok, ostrich and other hardy desert animals. Rare succulent plants somehow manage to eke out an existence in this harsh countryside. Explore this fabulous area by vehicle, on foot or by mountain bike. Day 9 Morning drive to the border of Etosha National Park (439 KM/approximately 9 hours with stops), Namibia’s wildlife paradise for your 2 night stay at Eagle Tented Camp (standard) or Ongava Lodge (luxury). Etosha was proclaimed a national park in 1907 by the German Governor Von Lindequist and today covers an area of 22,720 square kilometres. Day 10 Today you have the opportunity to explore the Etosha National Park. At an additional cost you may wish to enjoy all of the game viewing activities on offer at your lodge, including game drives into Etosha or on the Ongava Reserve, game viewing in hides or venturing out on foot.
