Introduction to Mexico
Mexico is a land blessed with natural diversity and scenic wonders. Our ‘Treasures of Mexico’ tour concentrates on places of interest east of Mexico City,
but to the west, the Baja Peninsula extends for over 1,000 kilometres, covering a spectacular natural canvas of rich coastal waters, deserts and mountains,
whilst in the grandiose ‘Copper Canyon’, the country boasts a landscape deeper and larger than the more famous ‘Grand Canyon’ to the north. Mexico has a wealth of hotel choices ranging from larger resort-style properties to smaller intimate boutique
hotels and haciendas. The hotels mentioned below represent a selection of smaller hotels which we feel
capture the flavour of the country.

MEXICO’S COLONIAL CITIES
MEXICO’S COLONIAL CITIES
Hernan Cortes and his conquistadores overran the mighty Aztec civilization in the early
16th century. For the next 300 years Mexico was ruled by the Spanish and the colonial
legacy is evident throughout the land. Many itineraries to Mexico are concentrated
to the east of the capital, but the central region is little-visited in spite of having some
fantastic colonial cities. San Miguel de Allende is one of the most picturesque cities
and is declared a National Monument. Guanajuato is another gem with its narrow
streets that seem to belong to a bygone era, which was founded in 1559 and grew
rich from the silver found in abundance in the surrounding hills. The ornate churches
and houses, many in Moorish style, bear witness to its former wealth.Select this tailor made option
WHALES AND WILDLIFE
WHALES AND WILDLIFE
The Baja Peninsula and the Sea
of Cortes is home to a staggering
abundance of marine life, with a third
of the planet’s whale and dolphin
species, some 900 species of fish and
an array of sea birds and marine
mammals that defies the imagination.
Clear, turquoise waters abound with
huge schools of dolphins, playful sea
lions and regular sightings of blue,
humpback and grey whales, which
mass along the waters of the Pacific.Select this tailor made option
