New Latin America brochure 2009/10
Our new 2009/10 Latin America brochure is out now! We have introduced El Salvador as well as a host of new itinerary and accommodation options throughout this vast continent. In addition, the Falkland Islands have been reintroduced as a holiday extension option. There is an increased emphasis on tailor made travel choices, including four itineraries specially designed for families travelling with teenage children, the mountain lodges of Peru and small boat cruising in the Galapagos.
El Salvador – New Mayan World Holiday
For the first time, we have included this wonderful country as part of a fascinating 15 day Mayan World holiday which also includes Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. This itinerary tracks the sites of the ancient Mayan civilization, from Mexico across northern Central America, taking in the amazing art and architecture they left behind. Take this exceptional journey, from the lesser known sites of El Salvador, such as the pyramids at San Andres, to the spectacular ruins of Copan in Honduras and Tikal in Guatemala, and the magical setting of Chichen Itza in Mexico.
Darwin 200 – Visit the Great Galapagos
2009 sees the bicentenary of Charles Darwin, renowned for his book ‘The Origin of the Species’, much of the research for which was carried out during his time travelling around the Galapagos Islands. To mark this important anniversary, we are offering a host of lectures and special activities as part of its Galapagos cruises aboard the MV Santa Cruz, the Isabela II and La Pinta yachts. Expert naturalist guides will be on hand to talk about the highlights of Darwin’s theories, Darwin Movie Nights will feature documentaries about the great man, and there will be fascinating evening lectures on subjects such as ‘The Theory of Evolution’. Example escorted journeys include the 13 day Galapagos – La Pinta Cruise (from £4,385 per person), and the 13 day Ecuador and Galapagos trip (from £2,475 per person).
In addition we have introduced Small Boat Galapagos Cruising option which uses one of three identical motor yachts, Eric, Letty or Flamingo I. The operators of these boats (with a maximum of 20 passengers) are heavily involved in conversation and are the first carbon neutral operation in the area. They have also worked to establish the Galapagos Marine Biodiversity Fund which promotes environmental education amongst local people. These cruises enable travellers to get closer to wildlife and have clear bottomed kayaks and custom wetsuits for snorkelling.
