 | The Hato El Cedral in Los Llanos is a working cattle ranch covering a huge area of the Venezuelan lowlands (some 130,000 acres). Accommodation for visitors is in a complex of 25 comfortable bungalows with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and private bathrooms. The central building houses the restaurant, where all meals (buffet-style) are taken. Coffee and tea is available all day from a large flask on the sideboard, free of charge, and other drinks may be ordered as required, at a cost. Outside the restaurant is a seating area and a small pool. Before dinner, a traditional trio will perform the ‘joropo’ music characteristic of the region (consisting of harp, 4-stringed guitar and maracas).
