Kachina Lodge 

South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Alaska (USA) 

The Kachina Lodge is one of a group of National Park Lodges located close to each other on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. All rooms have twin queen-sized beds, TV, telephone, and full ensuite bathroom. There are no dining facilities at the Kachina Lodge, but we have a choice of the restaurants at the neighbouring El Tovar and Bright Angel Lodges (both within easy walking distance).  

 

Kadavu Resort 

Calicut, India 

Located close to Calicut on the river amongst lush coconut trees, Kadavu Resort is an ideal base from which to explore the town and the surrounding area. The 84 rooms offer either river or garden views and are set within tropical gardens, wonderful for spotting the surrounding birdlife. The main restaurant has indoor and outdoor dinning and facilities include a superb Ayurvedic centre and a large swimming pool. 

 

Kanana Camp 

The Xudam River, Botswana 

Kanana Camp, the newest camp in the Ker & Downey portfolio, set deep in the Delta amongst grass covered Islands on the Xudam River. The camp consists of eight large, twin bedded safari style tents with sewn in floors and windows built on plinths overlooking the Delta. Each has a private bathroom with hot and cold running water (24 hours), shower and flush toilet. Activities at the camp include game drives, game viewing in Mokoros (local canoes), nature walks (at the camp’s discretion), night drives, power boating, sunset rides and fishing. You can also relax at the camp’s plunge pool. The dining and sitting areas are raised on decking encircling an ancient fig tree and also afford tremendous views of the area.  

 

Kapani Safari Lodge  

Luangwa National Park, Zambia 

Kapani Safari Lodge is an exclusive, privately owned camp situated on the banks of a large lagoon beside the Luangwa River. Accommodating only 20 guests, the ten brick and thatch rooms are designed for the warmer weather with high ceilings, overhead fans and large gauzed windows. Each of the eight standard suites has an en-suite bathroom and a lounge with bar fridge and individual room safes. Our two Lagoon Houses and are very private and spacious with en-suite facilities – perfect for honeymooners. The camp is on mains electricity and offers most modern facilities. A thatched building in the centre of camp houses the lounge and library. It is pleasantly cool in the hot weather and warm and cosy in the cooler months with an open fire. The bar and dining area overlooks the beautiful Kapani Lagoon where there is plenty of space for guests to relax between game drives and watch the many hippos and crocs in the lagoon.  

 

Karanambu Ranch 

Rupununi River, Guyana 

Karanambu Ranch is situated where the north savannah grassland, swamp and flood forest meet on the Rupununi River and the horse flats stretch towards the Pakaraima Mountains and into Brazil. The accommodation here is five simple thatched cabins with meals served in the main house.  

 

Kariega River Lodge 

Bushman's River, South Africa 

Kariega Game Reserve is a Big Five game lodge located in pristine surroundings, within the tranquillity and splendour of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Nestled on the banks of the Bushmans River, Kariega River Lodge comprises of 10 superbly appointed thatched suites. All suites have en-suite bathrooms with spacious showers and ornate baths. The suites are air-conditioned with ceiling fans, satellite TV and mini bars. The Lodge, which overhangs the river, offers exclusivity, comfort and spectacular views and apart from wonderful gameviewing, unique features include excellent river fishing and crabbing. 

 

Kasbah Chergui Hotel  

Erfoud, Morocco 

The Kasbah Chergui hotel is located on the outskirts of Erfoud, standing on a site that brings together the largest and most spectacular dunes in Morocco. The hotel is surrounded by large extensions of land next to palm groves and rich vegetation. The hotel has 100 room each with air conditioning, TV, mini-bar and telephone. The hotel also has a swimming pool, a Hammam Spa with cabins for massages, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor buffet and with traditional Moroccan and European cuisine. 

 

Kasbah du Toubkal

Kasbah du Toubkal is a magnificent mountain retreat spectacularly situated in the heart of the High Atlas. Near the foot of Jbel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa, it's only 40 miles from Marrakech but the peace and quiet and seclusion are so complete the city seems a million miles away. Rooms are en-suite and meals are served either in the cosy dining rooms or under the stars.

Kasr Ibrim 

Lake Nasser, Egypt 

The Kasr Ibrim recreates the atmosphere and style of a 1920s Nile Steamship, but with all modern conveniences. Each fully air-conditioned cabin is tastefully furnished with ensuite facilities. Facilities include a lounge and bar area, and a restaurant serving oriental and western cuisine and meals are usually buffet style. There is a sundeck with swimming pool and jacuzzi, a Health Club, and a Gift Shop. A laundry service is available. The maximum capacity of the boat is 130 passengers. The Kasr Ibrim usually carries a doctor on board. 

 

Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea

The Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea hotel offers a variety of accommodation. The Main Hotel Building comprises of 201 rooms and this is where the superior rooms and suites are situated all with balconies and views of the Dead Sea. The Ishtar Village rooms are a combination of 3 luxurious two-storey enclaves reflecting Babylonian influence and set amidst well landscaped gardens offering a private and exclusive setting. There is a total of 117 rooms & Suites with balconies, terraces or verandas, all facing the Dead Sea. All rooms either in the Main building or the Ishtar Village include a mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities, internet access and Dead Sea bathroom amenities. Further hotel facilities include 8 swimming pools, a gymnasium and a private beach. The Anantara Spa has more than 20 treatment rooms, 28 spa suites, Jacuzzis, Asian therapies, steam rooms, saunas and a Hamman (Turkish Bath). 

 

Kenzi Belere Hotel  

Erfoud, Morocco 

The Kenzi Belere Hotel is situated in the tourist area, a few minutes drive from the city centre. Erfoud’s newest hotel, it has 140 rooms designed in cottage style accommodation leading off from the hotel garden and pool area. The hotel has one restaurant, which is an English style pub bar. 

 

Ketumetse Trails Camp

Ketumetse Trails Camp is Wilderness Safaris’ newly designed, spacious walk-in meru tents create a sense of connection to the Earth and nature, enhances both the view and the feeling of the wild and untamed. The style of accommodation in the private Discoverer campsites takes you back to the era of Africa’s exploration. Pure linens of heavy cottons, brass bucket showers and basins, separate flushing toilets and shower areas all add to the atmosphere, while luxury comforts and amenities are elegantly provided.  

 

Khangardi Ger Camp 

, Mongolia 

Outside Ulan Bator accommodation is in the traditional circular tents or 'Gers', made from canvas stretched around a fixed wooden framework. Facilities are very basic, each ger containing 4 beds, a wood stove, table and chairs, but little else - the communal shower block is separate and there is a central dining tent. Hot water is not always available. This tour is therefore only suited to more adventurous travellers who are prepared to accept these basic facilities, which are in fact the best available in these destinations. Bales are pleased to advise you that we have secured accommodation based on 2 passengers only in each ger instead of 4. Naturally this has resulted in higher costs but we feel most of our passengers would prefer this arrangement. 

 

Khimsar Fort 

Great Thar Desert, India 

The founder of Khimsar Fort, which was built mid 15th century was Prince Karamsi – son of Rao Jodhaji, the founder of Jodhpur. Located 90km from Jodhpur, the Fort comprises of 50 well kept rooms, all with air conditioning, fridge and private facilities. The fort has a swimming pool as well as an in-house museum offering an interesting insight into the history of the royal family. 

 

Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge 

Kinabatangan River, Borneo 

Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge is located on the edge of the Kinabatangan River. Although a simple property, all rooms are en-suite. There are fans in the rooms, but no air-conditioning. Rooms are built around the gardens and there is a restaurant and bar serving local dishes. The location is superb for watching the sunset over the jungle, whilst sitting on the lodge’s wooden veranda. Complimentary tea and coffee are available together with mineral water in the main reception area.  

 

Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge 

Watarrka National Park, Australia 

Just a few hours drive from Uluru and only three and a half hours from Alice Springs, the Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge is perfectly located for an extended tour of Central Australia. It is situated on Kings Creek Station, a fully operational cattle and camel station of 1800 square kilometres. The Lodge features 10 deluxe air-conditioned tented cabins, with full en suite facilities, offering comfort amidst the staggering natural landscapes of the Outback, as well as gourmet dining and a range of guided walks. 

 

Kirawira Tented Camp 

Serengeti National Park , Tanzania 

Kirawira Tented Camp is situated on a hilltop that overlooks the plains of the Western Serengeti. The open-sided architecture in the public areas allows you to constantly keep in touch with nature. The dining room, lounge and bar are situated in a large tent with raised wooden flooring. The 25 tents featuring en-suite bathrooms with showers have private balconies offering fantastic views over the Serengeti. Daily game drives are conducted in the area and there are game-viewing hides on the banks of the Grumeti River where you have a good chance of spotting crocodiles and other game coming to drink. 

 

Klein-Aus Vista, Desert Horse Inn

Located in the Aus Mountains at 1,400 metres above sea level, Klein-Aus Vista, Desert Horse Inn affords vistas of mountain scenery and endless desert plains. It consists of 24 tastefully decorated rooms with spacious bathrooms en suite. Take a sundowner on the wooden deck and relax before moving to the restaurant to enjoy a 3-course meal. Exchange your travel experiences and recommendations at the evocative Wild Horse Bar or at the cosy fireplace in the lounge. 

 

Klein's Camp  

Northern Serengeti , Tanzania

Knysna Log Inn is an impressive timber log-style hotel, located in the heart of Knysna within easy walking distance of the waterfront and shopping centres. Krishna Lodge in Kanha consists of 18 cottages with en-suite facilities and air-conditioning units. Both lodges are best described as moderate in quality.  

 

Kulala Wilderness Camp  

Namibia, South Africa 

Kulala Wilderness Camp is a ten-roomed camp situated in the heart of Namibia's Namib Desert on a 21,000-acre private reserve near Sossusvlei. The camp is built at the foot of a rock escarpment, facing west with great sunset views in the mountainous eco-system of this area. The camp comprises of 10 Meru style tents on elevated wooden decks with stone en-suite bathrooms. A staircase leading up to the flat rooftop above the bathroom provides the ideal setting to sleep under the stars on a provided bedroll. The main area is elevated under thatch and offers a homely and intimate atmosphere with a sparkling swimming pool, dining room and bar area. The interiors are simple yet comfortable, with 220v lighting and electricity. Traditional 3 course meals are served at dinner. On the edge of the oldest desert in the world, wildlife here is sparse but fascinating. Sightings of animals such as Springbok, Gemsbok, Ostrich, Bat-eared Fox and Aardwolf are exciting in these rugged conditions.
