Backwaters
Explore the captivating landscapes and enchanting rural life of Kerala’s backwaters aboard a traditional houseboat. Stop off to explore local villages amongst the paddy fields.

Fort Cochin
The oldest European settlement in India, Kochi (formerly Cochin) is located on India’s south west coast. A rich fusion of European architecture, Indian colour and Oriental flair, the fort area with its narrow streets and spice merchants is wonderful to discover on foot and to watch the Chinese fishing nets draw in their catch.

Houseboat
Each houseboat has two twin bedrooms with ensuite facilities. There is a large open-sided sitting area where meals, using local fish and vegetables (prepared on board) are served. Your houseboat is fully staffed, with a captain, his mate and a butler, who also accompany you on land for short excursions to local churches, temples and other attractions

Beach
Marari Beach Resort, Mararikulam is set in 25 acres of coconut palm groves leading down to an expansive beach, Marari is built in the style of a traditional fishing village and has 62 air-conditioned thatched cottages, some with private pools and all with verandas overlooking the gardens. This superb property is an idyllic beach getaway.

Spice gardens
Inspired by traditional jungle construction and blending seamlessly into its forested surroundings, the Spice Village in Thekkady is a tranquil haven located close to the rich wilderness of the Periyar Wildlife Reserve. Offering comfortable chalet style accommodation in the heart of a fragrant spice garden that lies deep in the Cardamom Hills, this hotel affords the perfect spot to immerse oneself in a landscape of dappled forest canopies, rubber and tea plantations and the rolling highlands of the Western Ghats.

Keralan Festivals
Kerala offers up a feast of festivals throughout the year, from the famous Pooram Festival in Thrissur, the biggest and most colourful of the region’s celebrations, to the local Kathakali dance dramas and the ritualistic Theyyam dances, where villagers dressed in masks and hats become ‘possessed’ by the temple deities.

Food
Keralan food is a rich, aromatic blend of sea food, coconut, tamarind and peppery spices that has evolved from the region’s diverse mix of cultural influences. Karimeen (fried fish) and Fish Moilee (curry) are two of the regions most famous dishes, whilst Aappam (pancakes) and Thoran are always popular choices.

Periyar
Set high in the ranges of the Western Ghats, Periyar National Park is a botanical delight surrounding the picturesque waters of Lake Periyar. The park is home to some 320 bird species and over 60 species of mammals including nearly 1,000 elephants.

Emirates - Business Class
Cost: from £ 1400
Emirates has at least six types of business class products currently flying, a result of its rapid expansion, frequent upgrading of quality on old aircraft and better seat designs on new aircraft. The first three (oldest three) types are cradle style seats with slightly different degrees of recline. As each type of seat came out, small improvements were made, most noticeably in the angle of recline. These seats are comfortable, and to make room for the extra recline a row of seats was taken out of some aircraft.Complimentary chauffeur-driven cars are available for First Class and Business Class passengers in many of the cities we serve.
