The Villa Caribe Hotel

The Villa Caribe Hotel is located in the fishing town of Livingstone and is only accesible by boat from Rio Dulce or Puerto Barrios. Overlooking the ocean, the hotel is surrounded by lush gardens which lead to the main town area. It has 45 rooms with balconies and en suite facilities, a large pool, inside and outside dining and bar. Please note guest rooms are not air- conditioned but have a room fan.....

Wandering through markets and trying local food (and avoiding tourist shops) is one of the most enjoyable things I do whilst on holiday. I have fond memories of trying the most famous Salvadoran snack, the ‘pupusa’ in a local market. The local found it almost as interesting watching the gringo experiment with these corn tortillas.
