"Formerly known as British Honduras, Belize is a welcoming country with some fantastic wildlife experiences, relaxing islands to top up the suntan and some interesting Mayan treasures. The world famous diving Blue Hole is not to be missed for some spectacular diving. Belize can easily combine with both Mexico and Guatemala but equally has enough to offer if you want to have a more relaxing holiday and would like to concentrate on a smaller area. Elsewhere in Belize the interesting Afro-Belizean community in coastal Dangriga are worth a visit. The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is a renowned jaguar reserve."

One of the best experiences in my life was a snorkelling trip which I arranged from Caye Caulker I swam amongst friendly nurse sharks (you can stroke them!) and graceful stingrays. Even though I had seen the pictures before I couldn’t believe it until I had patted the sharks and stingrays myself. Whilst this fantastic experience is possible in Belize please check before repeating elsewhere in the world! - Steve Lidgey
