Relive the days of the British Raj in the evocative hill station of Nuwara Eliya, set in wonderful mountain scenery amidst tea plantations before continuing to Yala National Park and a chance to spot leopards in their natural environment. The journey finishes with 2 nights in the historic town of Galle. Our July departure of our Classic Sri Lanka tour coincides with one of the biggest Buddhist celebrations of the year - the annual Perahera festival held in Kandy. It honours the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha – said to have been brought to the island 2000 years ago. The relic is kept in the Temple of the Tooth and a replica is displayed in a Golden Casket atop of a brightly decorated elephant.
