Buzios Coast

Stretching for nearly 7,500 kilometres the Brazilian coastline is as varied as it is vast. From the swamps, mangroves and river channels of the north it follows a course that takes it through a diverse range of twists and turns that include dunes and lagoons, the fabulous beaches of Rio and the southern coastal plains, where the towering mountains reach down to the very ocean itself..

Back

Iguassu Falls

One of the world’s most stunning cascades, Iguassu Falls are the thundering centrepiece of the Iguassu Falls National Park, straddling the border between Brazil and Argentina. The Argentine side offers closer views, jungle trails and the chance of a boat ride to the base of the electrifying ‘Devil’s Throat’ Falls.

Back

Christ the Redeemer

Corcovado Hill is reached by a beautiful scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. From here a cog train climbs the beautiful mountain to where the statue of Christ, the Redeemer is located. The views over Rio are spectacular and it is easy to see why it was recently named one of the new 7 wonders of the world. The Statue was originally built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Brazilian Independence in 1922. It was completed in 1931, and at 125 feet, became the largest Art Deco sculpture in the world.

Back

Salvador de Bahia

Vibrant and colourful, Bahia is a real feast for the senses. Strongly influenced by its African roots, it is one of Brazil’s most culturally and historically important regions, with the beautiful city of Salvador offering a prime example of its rich mix of colonial traditions, vibrant colours, rich flavours and resonant sounds.

Back

Amazon Eco Park

For those who want to visit the Amazon region, but don’t necessarily want to join a cruise,we can recommend a stay at the excellent Amazon EcoPark, just 30 minutes by motor launch from Manaus. Located on the banks of the Taruma River, a tributary of the Rio Negro, it is ideal for a short visit to the rainforest. Accommodation is in one of 60 rooms housed in 20 rustic bungalows. Rooms are cooled by fans and airconditioning and have private bathrooms with hot water showers. The Lodge has a panoramic open-air restaurant and there is also a bar and lounge area. In addition to catering to tourists the EcoPark is a scientific and educational complex and houses the Amazon Primates Rehabilitation Centre

Back

Copacabana Beach

Think of Rio and Copacabana beach cannot be far from your mind. Located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, it stretches for over 2.5km and is flanked by nightclubs, casinos and hotels. The most popular sport on this beach is soccer, and you can find games being played every few hundred yards throughout the day into the early evening. Copacabana beach hosts perhaps the largest New Year's Eve party in the world. Every year, Revéillon is celebrated on the beach with many thousands of people wearing traditional white, enjoying spectacular fireworks at midnight, and partying until dawn to watch the sunrise.

Back

Rio

Brazil’s most famous landmarks offer stunning views of the city, its bays and beaches. The statue of Christ, reached by train, has dominated the skyline since 1931, while Sugar Loaf Mountain is almost 400 mt high and is reached by taking 2 cable car rides.

Back

Amazon

The two rivers that are adjacent to Manaus, the Rio Solimões and the Rio Negro, merge to form what we know as the mighty Amazon River, which is ten kilometres wide even here. The meeting of the two rivers is well worth a visit. The area is home to a number of excellent lodges such as the Amazon Village or the Amazon Eco-Park and whilst the opportunity for spotting wildlife is diminished due to the size of the area a stay is enriched with walks with biologist guides and boat trips along the peaceful rivers.
