Tortuguero National Park
Lying Amongst the wetlands and jungles of north eastern Costa Rica, the Tortugero National Park is 312sq km of astounding natural diversity, with no fewer than 11 different habitats on offer. Only reachable by boat or plane, the park’s Caribbean beaches provide prime nesting sites for several species of sea turtles between February and October, however July is considered a prime month to witness this sceptical. In fact Tortuguero is the most important hatchery in the Western Caribbean for green sea turtles, with over 35 km of beaches protected for them. The park also provides one of the best destinations in the country for bird watching, whilst its rivers and forests are home to rare manatees, caimans, sloths and jaguars.

Arenal
Rising to over 1,600 mt above the surrounding landscape and the waters of Lake Arenal, the perfect cone of Arenal Volcano has consistently been Costa Rica’s most active volcano, with 7 major eruptions since 1968 and many more smaller displays. Aside from regular large and small pyroclastic displays, the park is also home to the largest man-made lake in the country, several waterfalls and hot springs and a number of pleasant hiking trails.

Monteverde Cloud Forest
Monteverde is renowned as one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges in the New World tropics and we have a day of exploration in the cloud forest, draped in its mantle of mist, home to the emerald-coloured Resplendent Quetzal, considered by many to be the most beautiful bird in the world. Also visit the Butterfly Garden.

Flora and Founa
Accounting for 6% of the world’s plant and animal species, Costa Rica is one of the richest biological countries anywhere. Blessed with huge diversities of flora and fauna, its varied ecosystems, including rainforests, mangroves and coral reefs harbour some of the world’s rarest species, including the beautiful resplendent Quetzal, manatees and leatherback turtles. The variety of different habitats make it an excellent choice for ornithologists.

Panama
Panama is a cultural melting pot of Amerindian, colonial and indigenous influences that all respect each others' backgrounds and beliefs. Synonymous with its famous canal, Panama boasts one of the world's most impressive feats of modern engineering which is considered the '8th Wonder of the Modern World'. See it in our Panama Extension tour.

Manuel Antonio National Park
Costa Rica’s smallest national park, this glittering pearl covers nearly 700 hectares of rainforests, beaches and reefs. With some of the country’s most biodiverse areas, the snorkelling and diving off the outlying reefs is excellent and the forests are home to sloth, rare squirrel monkeys and hundreds of bird species.

Wildlife of Costa Rica
Biologically, Costa Rica is one of the richest countries on earth, boasting a huge diversity of flora and fauna. With 9000 species of birds, over 200 mammals and nearly 400 species of reptile, this tiny land accounts for 6% of the planets plant and animal species. A dozen ecosystems harbour some of the world’s rarest species, from scarlet macaws and manatees to leatherback turtles and beautiful resplendent quetzal.
