Egypt, Morocco and Arabia - Uzbekistan - Country Information
Like the legendary Genghis Khan a century and a half before him, the Mongol warrior Tamerlane set out to conquer the known world. His conquests yielded great treasures which found their way back to his magnificent capital of Samarkand. Already renowned as one of the great Silk Road oases of Central Asia, under Tamerlane in the late 14th century Samarkand rose to become one of the richest and most extravagant cities in the world, whose architectural masterpieces astonished visitors for generations to come.

Uzbekistan has a climate, which has been called “extreme continental”. In other words it enjoys roughly the same seasons as Europe, but winters are freezing and mid-summer (mid-June to early August) can be unbearably hot. We have therefore chosen dates in the spring and early summer and again in the late summer and autumn periods, when the extremes of temperatures are avoided. In May and early September, daytime temperatures will still be high (up to 30°C) but the lack of humidity makes this bearable.
