Day 4

 Day 4
|
The polar bears come to shore near Churchill as the ice forms for the winter and our itinerary includes full days on the icy tundra in specially-designed vehicles to witness the polar bear migration.
N.B. We feel it is important to point out that although this departure date has been chosen for being the optimum time to see polar bears migrating, we cannot guarantee the number of bear sightings you will have during your time in Churchill. After all, this is a natural phenomenon which is hugely dependant on the climatic conditions experienced each year. These can vary greatly and will have an affect on the timing of the freezing of the water in Hudson Bay, which makes it possible for the bears to venture out onto the ice for a winter of hunting seals. Having said this, the excitement of travelling on the special adapted tundra vehicles to search for polar bears, is something you will never forget.

Day 5

 Day 5
|
During the day, it may be possible (weather-permitting) to take an optional 1 hour helicopter ride for an aerial view of this amazing phenomenon and when night has fallen, there will be an excursion to view (again weather permitting) the incredible Northern Lights as they illuminate the Arctic skies.
N.B. The celestial grandeur of the Northern Lights is one of nature’s most remarkable phenomena; flowing curtains of light that transform the night skies above the Canadian wilderness into a shimmering canvas of stunning reds, greens and blues. Caused by the interaction between solar winds and the Earth’s magnetic core, this spectacular display, christened after the Roman goddess
of the dawn (Aurora) and the Greek name for the north wind (Boreas) has captivated mankind since it was first recorded by the Greek explorer Pytheas in 320 BC. Undiluted by time, its majestic displays even today cannot fail to inspire awe in anyone who witnesses it.
