One of southern Africa’s most renowned tourist attractions and considered to be one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, the incredible spectacle of Victoria Falls presents us with the largest single curtain of water on the planet. Located on the outskirts of Livingstone – Africa’s ‘Adventure Capital’ – the breathtaking sight of ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ is simply overwhelming. Between March and June, Victoria Falls display their full majestic power, with vivid rainbows and drenching torrents of water. The views at this time of the year are stunning, although walking along the Zambian side can be somewhat wet and slippery. During low water the full geological splendour of the gorge is visible, affording another unique aspect of the falls and the opportunity to visit the World Heritage site of Livingstone Island, where a swim to the spectacular ‘Devil’s Armchair’ offer quite extraordinary views over the top.
