Connect with your flight on South African Airways to Durban. On arrival you will be assisted with the pick up of your hire car before you depart for the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains where you will spend 2 nights at Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. This charming little getaway is tucked away in the beautiful Kamberg Valley, close to Giant’s Castle and is the perfect base to explore the Drakensberg.

The day is yours to enjoy the alpine atmosphere of this region. The nearby Royal Natal National park is set deep in the mountains with a number of well marked trails of varying distances that by pass streams and waterfalls, as well as some spectacular cliff faces. The reserve is also well stocked with mountain game such as antelope (including eland, the largest antelope in the world), otter, caracal, serval, zebra and baboon. A day in the open air is ideal preparation to build your appetite for your sumptuous five-course dinner.

Set off this morning after breakfast and head into the interior of KwaZulu-Natal, a route that takes you through sugar cane fields, rural settlements and orange groves. This is the area where over a century ago the bloodiest battles in South Africa’s history were fought, between Boer and Brit and Boer and Zulu. One of the most famous battles was at Isandlwana, where the British incurred their biggest colonial defeat, and the subsequent attack on Rorke’s Drift. Spend 2 nights at Isandlwana Lodge which is situated near one of these famous battle sites.

Spend the day in this historic, and scenic area. A Battlefield tour accompanied by an expert providing an emotive journey through the two battle sites, including the cairns at Isandlwana, and the besieged hospital at Rorke’s Drift is included in your holiday.

Today you will begin your journey to Ballito on the outskirts of Durban where you will arrive at The Boathouse, for a relaxing 2 night stay.

Day at leisure. Soak up the sun and the splendour of the beach or the unique lakeside and enjoy an al fresco picnic, play a round of golf, take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the splendour of the sub-tropical forest or explore on horseback. Alternatively treat yourself to a relaxing massage and a whole range of therapies at the health & beauty Spa.
