Depart London Heathrow this evening for your overnight British Airways flight to Dar es Salaam (9 hours 30 minutes).

On arrival into Dar es Salaam this morning, you will be met and transferred to Terminal 1 to connect with your Coast Aviation flight to the Selous Game Reserve (45 minutes). On arrival you will be transferred to Selous Safari Camp in time for lunch. This afternoon you will go on a game drive.

The largest in Africa, the vast expanse of Selous Game Reserve was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Covering an area the size of Switzerland, this spectacular wilderness holds over 50% of Tanzania’s total elephant population, as well as rare wild dog, black rhino and some 440 species of birds. It also boasts a huge diversity of game animals, with some of the largest herds left on the continent, especially wildebeest, zebra, impala and some 200,000 buffalo, making it a rich hunting ground for lion, leopard and cheetah.

You have two full days here and a full range of activities have been organised for your stay, including morning and afternoon game drives and the unique opportunity to enjoy either boat or walking safaris with expert guides.

After breakfast this morning head to Selous airstrip for your flight to the beautiful Ruaha National Park (2 hours). On arrival transfer to the secluded tranquillity of Jongomero Camp.

One of Africa’s best kept secrets, Ruaha is a spectacular landscape of baobab trees, sandstone gorges and lush forests, all fed by the waters of the great Ruaha River. The next two days see us enjoying exhilarating game drives through this pristine country, enjoying the diversity of a unique transition zone, where the flora and fauna of the eastern and southern regions of Africa cross over amongst the majestic backdrop of the Great Rift Valley.

Large herds of antelope populate these plains, making it ideal territory for the ever present predators. Lion, leopard and cheetah all hunt amongst these spectacular landscapes and it is one of the best places in Africa to view the elusive and endangered African wild dog. The shallows of the Ruaha’s flowing waters are the preserve of huge prehistoric looking crocodiles, whilst the skies are alive with some of the 500 species of bird recorded here.

Morning departure to Ruaha airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam (3 hours). On arrival you will be transferred to the Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel for an overnight stay.
