Depart London Heathrow on Thai Airways International flight to Bangkok (11 hours 20 minutes).

In Bangkok connect with the onward flight to Ho Chi Minh City (1 hour 20 minutes) and transfer to the Renaissance Riverside Hotel. Optional evening cruise on the Saigon River.

Morning city tour of Saigon, to include the Presidential Palace, the History Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and visits to a lacquer factory and Saigon’s bustling waterfront. An optional visit to the notorious Cu Chi Tunnels is available this afternoon, but please note that the tunnels are low and narrow and can be claustrophobic.

Journeying into the lush setting of the Mekong Delta, travel by small, motorised boats to the riverside town of Cai Be passing through a timeless landscape of traditional houses and floating markets, en route towards the lower reaches of the Mekong (Tien Glang). Exploring the intricate network of tributaries that feed this mighty river, continue by boat to Vinh Long and transfer to your vehicle for the ferry crossing to Can Tho for overnight at the Victoria Hotel (total journey 196 KM/approximately 4½ hours).

This spectacularly fertile region is full of rice fields and floating markets and this morning visit the Mekong’s largest vibrant market at Cai Rang. As you ply your way along the river by sampan, sample a little of the local colour of rural life along its verdant banks. Returning to Can Tho visit the esplanade and the Mekong Delta Museum before continuing to Chau Doc on the Cambodian border, and visit the nearby Nui Sam Mountain (113 KM/approximately 3½ hours). Overnight at the Victoria Hotel.

Your Mekong journey continues in the early morning towards the French colonial charm of Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital (130 KM/4½ hours), where you will stay at the Sunway Hotel.

A morning tour of this most charming of cities includes a visit to the National Museum with its impressive collection of Angkor sculptures and the Royal Palace, with the opportunity to view the remarkable Silver Pagoda, which has over 5,000 silver floor tiles. This afternoon is free to enjoy some more of this pleasant city, or perhaps take an optional tour to the Teul Sleng Genocide Museum and the ‘Killing Fields’ of Choeung Ek, memorials to the horrors of Pol Pot’s tyrannical regime.

Morning flight to Siem Reap (55 minutes) and the impressive temple complex of Angkor, where later this afternoon pay a sunset visit to this most spectacular of ancient sites, an unforgettable experience. Stay at the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa.

This morning take to the expansive and rich waters of Lake Tonle Sap to explore something of life along the shores of the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia. A UNESCO Reserve and of vital importance to the local communities, the lake covers nearly 15 per cent of Cambodia’s land mass. This afternoon is at leisure.
