Leave London Heathrow in the afternoon by British Airways to Shanghai (11 hours 15 minutes).

Morning arrival and transfer to the Mayfair Hotel. Afternoon tour of Old Shanghai including the interesting Shanghai Museum and the Yu Garden, followed by time for you to stroll along the famous waterfront, the ‘Bund’.

Day at leisure. An optional excursion is available to the picturesque water town of Zhu Jia Jiao. Evening optional excursion to an acrobatic show.

Morning train journey to Suzhou (89 KM/approximately 50 minutes), where our sightseeing will include the ornamental Master of the Nets Garden and Panmen Gate. Also enjoy a boat trip on the Grand Canal. Overnight at the Bamboo Grove Hotel.

Our journey continues by train to Nanjing (193 KM/approximately 1 hour 40 minutes). Afternoon visit to the Mausoleum of Doctor Sun Yat Sen. Overnight at the Mandarin Garden Hotel.

Morning sightseeing of the City Museum and the Confucius Temple Complex. Afternoon train journey to Qufu (386 KM/approximately 6 hours 45 minutes) where we transfer to the Queli Hotel.

Full day sightseeing to the Confucius Temple, the Kong Mansion and the Confucian family burial ground with its ornate monuments and tombs.

Today we drive to Keifeng (309 KM/approximately 4½ hours), a city with a history of many glorious years as the Chinese capital. Visit the Iron Pagoda, Dragon Pavilion and the Jewish Quarter before continuing to Zhengzhou for overnight at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Morning visit to the Shaolin Monastery, the birthplace of the kung-fu martial arts, followed by a visit to the White Horse Temple, China’s oldest Buddhist shrine. We continue to Luoyang (183 KM/approximately 3 hours) for our stay at the Peony Hotel.

Morning visit to the Longmen Caves, hollowed out of a cliff face overlooking the Yi River. There are more than 1,300 caves containing Buddhas and other religious figures. In the afternoon, another journey (386 KM/ approximately 5 ½ hours) through rural China brings us to the great imperial city of Xi’an where we transfer to the Sheraton Hotel.

Today visit the Terracotta Warriors, Wild Goose Pagoda and Bell Tower.
