Depart London Heathrow in the morning by British Airways to Miami (9 hours 45 minutes). Here you will be required to clear US Immigration and Customs formalities before continuing to Panama City on American Airlines (2 hours 50 minutes). On arrival in the evening, you will be met and transferred to the Marriott Hotel.

Transfer to Colon for your afternoon embarkation on the Pacific Explorer, your home for the next 9 nights, prior to sailing in the evening.

Arriving at the San Blas Islands, a visit is made to a Kuna Indian village. The Kuna people govern the region and still have very strong cultural traditions. At an uninhabited island nearby, crystal-clear waters tempt you in for snorkelling.

Enjoy a guided tour of sleepy Portobelo, once one of the richest ports of the Spanish Main, until plundered by Henry Morgan in 1668.

A transit of the Panama Canal aboard a small ship like the Pacific Explorer is an unforgettable experience. All shipping movements in the canal are controlled by the Panama Canal Authority. International maritime law gives priority to commercial freighters and your small ship will be assigned transit based on that criterion so may transit the canal at night, an impressive alternative to the daytime passage.

Visit a remote Emberá village tucked away on the coast of the Darien Jungle. The Emberá people are located in remote areas of Panama and Colombia and today you will learn about their lifestyle.

Sail to Isla de Coiba, Panama’s largest island surrounded by pristine waters and abundant sea life and which is considered by some to be amongst the top ten diving locations in the world. Enjoy a day of island snorkelling and kayaking.

Explore a mangrove forest on the Golfo Dulce by small craft or kayak, if the tide allows, and take a guided tour through the beautiful gardens at Casa Orquideas or ‘Orchid House.’ See, smell, and touch a wide variety of beautiful ornamental plants and taste some unusual fruits.

Visit the Corcovado National Park, located on the Osa Peninsula, which is populated by a number of endangered species including puma, tapir, poison dart frogs, crocodile, jaguar, and marine turtles. Guided hikes will be offered and lunch is a picnic on the beach.

In the Manuel Antonio National Park, join walks for some outstanding wildlife viewing. There are over 109 mammal species and 184 species of birds here and you should see monkeys, iguanas, agoutis, sloth, and the rare white ibis.

Disembark from the Pacific Explorer in the morning at Los Suenos Resort and Marina. You will be transferred to San Jose airport where you depart on an American Airlines flight for Miami (2 hours 45 minutes). At Miami, continue by British Airways to London (8 hours 15 minutes).
