Depart London Heathrow this evening on British Airways to Johannesburg (10 hours 55 minutes).

Arrive in Johannesburg and connect with your British Airways flight (operated by Comair) to Windhoek (1 hour 55 minutes). On arrival transfer by road (approximately 30 minutes) to the elegant Olive Grove Guesthouse, where you will stay for 2 nights. The rest of the day has been left free for you to relax.

Today is free to enjoy at your leisure. You might like to take a tour of the city, exploring its recent colonial past, or perhaps visit some of the handicraft workshops that form an integral part of the Namibian economy. A tour of the local townships can be tailored to your interests, including visits that encompass history and culture.

You will be picked up this morning and driven via Rehoboth, into the Kalahari Desert and the start of your 7-day journey through southern Namibia (400 KM/approximately 5 hours excluding stops). Day’s end finds us on the banks of the Auob River, where an evening at the Auob Lodge and a scenic sunset drive await.

Continuing into the Kalahari, you will visit the amazing ‘Quiver Tree’, a plant that has adapted superbly to its harsh environment and whose light, spongy wood was perfect for creating quivers for the San Bushmen. Also visit Keetmanshoop, an old mission station, before continuing via the Naute Dam to view the spectacular northern fringes of the Fish River Canyon (500 KM/ approximately 5 hours 30 minutes excluding stops). Overnight at Canon Village.

Today continue to Aus and visit the Aus Information Centre. See desert adapted horses on entering Namib Desert. Enjoy spectacular scenery of the Aus Mountains on an unguided walk. This afternoon there is an opportunity to take a scenic sun downer drive. Overnight at Klein Aus Vista, Desert Horse Inn.

See the ever-changing vistas of the desert landscapes when driving along the most beautiful district road in Namibia, the D707 (road conditions permitting). Continue towards Maltahöhe where you will overnight at the Hammerstein Rest Camp. This afternoon you will have time to relax at your lodge.

Making an early start head for Sossusvlei, where a 4-wheel-drive vehicle takes you deep into the heart of the Namib Desert and one of the most incredible landscapes on earth. Later visit Sesriem Canyon and the village of Solitaire, as we wind our way past the Namib Naukluft Mountains towards the Namib Naukluft Lodge for the evening (350 KM/approximately 4 hours excluding stops).

Driving through the Kuiseb Canyon today you continue towards Walvis Bay at the coast. Visit Walvis Bay Lagoon to view the seabirds. The seabird colonies at Walvis Bay lagoon number some 120,000 birds. Continue onwards to Swakopmund for your stay at the Hansa Hotel. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a sun downer drive across the incredible ‘lunar’ landscape.

This morning is free for you to explore lovely Swakopmund. Early this afternoon continue inland towards the towns of Usakos and Karibib whre you will have a short visit to a craft market in Okahandja. Finally arrive in Windhoek later this afternoon where you will overnight at the Olive Grove Guesthouse.

This morning is at leisure before your transfer to the airport for your flight on British Airways (operated by Comair) to Johannesburg. Connect with your overnight British Airways flight back to London.
