Depart London Heathrow at midday on Air Canada’s non-stop flight to Vancouver (9 hours 55 minutes). On arrival transfer to The Fairmont Waterfront or The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (based on Fairmont Room - please ask about room upgrades).

Morning flight to Anchorage (3 hours 25 minutes) for your stay at the Sheraton Hotel (or similar).

After morning sightseeing of Anchorage, continue to Whittier for embarkation on the Spirit of the Oceanus. The ship sails through Prince William Sound at the start of your 12-night cruise, travelling
approximately 1,245 km to Nome and the Arctic Circle where, subject to weather, you will cross the International Date Line.

Cruising the waters between the Alaskan mainland and the Kodiak Islands, passing the rugged landscapes of the Kenai Fjords National Park. Visit the Baranov and Alutiiq Museums and the Fish Tech Centre in Kodiak. Explore the remote shores of Katmai National Park. Possible landings on the Shumagin Islands in search of sea lions and sea birds on the Haystack Rocks. Visit the Museum of the Aleutians and the WWII Memorial Park on Unalaska Island. Wildlife spotting in the Pribilof Islands, searching out reindeer, fur seals and puffins, and exploring the remote islands of the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge.

The next three days are spent cruising through the rugged landscapes of Russia’s Chukotka Peninsula, visiting remote settlements and learning something of the resident wildlife and the indigenous natives who hunt amongst the waters of the Bering Sea.

Weather permitting, cruise into the northern waters beyond the Arctic Circle in search of humpbacks, minkes and bowhead whales.

The ship arrives in the frontier community of Nome, where there will be time to explore before flying to Anchorage. Overnight at the Sheraton Hotel (or similar).
