Depart London Heathrow on Thai Airways International to Bangkok.

Connect with Thai Airways flight to Kunming, located within the fertile
plains of the Yunnan Plateau. On arrival transfer to the Harbour Plaza Hotel.

Today we visit the Stone Forest at Shilin, an intriguing collection of
limestone formations, renowned since the Ming Dynasty as the ‘First Wonder
of the World’. Before returning to Kunming, visit a minority village.

This morning fly to Dali, heartland of the Bai people. We take a boat
trip on the Er Hai Lake, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Cang Sang
Mountains and visit the Three Pagodas, dating back over 1,000 years to the
days of Buddhist enlightenment. Stay at the Asia Star Hotel.

This morning we visit the Bai villages of Xizhou and Zhoucheng before
returning to Dali where the afternoon is free for further exploration.

Today we drive to Lijiang and the spectacular peaks of the Jade
Dragon Mountains. This stunning setting, home to the Naxi people, lies close
to the Tibetan border and this afternoon we explore the well-preserved Old
Town with a history dating back 800 years. Our stay is at the Grand Hotel.

The majestic landscape of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain presents
us with a breathtaking panorama of forested hills and glaciers, and this
morning we will take a trip to the mountain, a haven for numerous rare flora
and fauna. This afternoon is free to enjoy at your leisure.

Travelling via the magnificent Tiger Leaping Gorge to the dramatic
setting of Zhongdian, we stay at the Angsana Gyalthang Dzong Hotel

Today we enjoy a full day’s sightseeing, visiting a local Tibetan family,
Ganden Sumtseling Monastery and the emerald waters of Bita Lake, before
returning to enjoy the Old Town’s characteristic charm.

Leaving Zhongdian we fly south via Kunming, towards the fertile
plains of Xishuangbanna. Our destination is the ‘Dawn Capital’ of Jinghong
and our accommodation is at the Dai Garden Hotel.

Distantly related to the people of northern Thailand, the Dai have
been the dominant tribal group in this area since the 12th century. Today we
visit a local village and the Botanical Gardens at Menglun.

Early morning visit to a local market followed by a visit to the once royal park of Manting, home to the replicas of the 12th century Buddhist temple and the Da Duta pagoda. Early this afternoon we fly via Kunming back to Bangkok (50 minutes and 2 hours 10 minutes), where we connect with the onward flight to London.
