Arrive Kathmandu this afternoon and transfer to the Radisson Hotel.

A morning flight on Druk Air takes us to Paro, from where we continue by road to
Thimpu where we stay at the Pedling Hotel, or similar.

Bhutan’s capital and the centre of government, religion and commerce,
Thimphu is an interesting combination of tradition and modernity. Our sightseeing
today includes the magnificent Taschichho Dzong, the largest monastery in Bhutan and the Folk Heritage museum and the National Memorial Chorten.

A long scenic drive takes us over the high Dochu-La and Pele-La Passes to
Trongsa, perched high above the Mangde River and dominated by the imposing
presence of the 17th century dzong. Overnight at the Yangkhil Hotel, or similar.

A drive over the dramatic Yoto-La Pass (3,400m) brings us into the remote
Bumthang Valley for our stay at the Mountain Lodge.

The cultural and historic heart of Bhutan, Bumthang is littered with
Bhuddist monasteries and pilgrimage sites, and the next two days are spent exploring this fascinating and scenically photogenic region.

Another long drive across the high passes brings us to the magnificent
monastery fortress of Wangdiphodrang. From here we continue to Punakha, the
country’s winter capital, for our stay at the Hotel Zangthopeiri, or similar

Visiting Punakha this morning, we then continue back to Paro, where, on
arrival, we will check into the Olathang Hotel, or similar for a 2 night stay.

A spectacular walk takes us up to the lofty heights of the 300 year old Taktsang
(Tiger’s Nest) monastery. Situated high above the Paro Valley, the spectacular views from this ‘Temple of Heaven’ are simply breathtaking (ponies can be provided for those who feel the walk a little too strenuous). This afternoon we visit Paro Dzong with its classic Bhutanese architecture and the opportunity to stroll around the town.

Following a morning flight back to Kathmandu we drive to the Dhulikhel
Mountain Resort for a relaxing overnight in the Kathmandu Valley.

We return to Kathmandu for an overnight stay at the splendid Dwarika’s Hotel.
The rest of the day free to further explore Kathmandu or shop for last minute souvenirs and this evening a sumptuous 9-course Nepalese dinner has been arranged.
