Leave London Heathrow in the evening by LAN/Iberia codeshare flights via
Madrid to Santiago, Chile’s capital, lying at the foot of the snow-capped Andes.

Arrive Santiago in the morning. Your Tour Manager will meet and transfer you
to the Crowne Plaza Hotel followed by an afternoon tour of Santiago’s highlights.

Fly south to Punta Arenas in Patagonia. By way of historical introduction to this
remote windswept region, we visit the Braun Menendez Regional Museum and the
Salesian Museum. Overnight at the Hotel Cabo do Hornos.

In the morning we make the long drive via Puerto Natales to the Torres del
Paine National Park for a stay at the Hosteria Las Torres or Rio Serrano.

Two days sightseeing in Torres del Paine National Park. We will visit the
spectacular Salto Grande, and have excellent views of the Paine Massif and Lake
Grey with its background of the Grey Glacier. Also see Laguna Azul.

Drive back to Punta Arenas for the afternoon flight to Puerto Montt in the
Chilean Lake District. Transfer to Puerto Varas and the Cabañas del Lago Hotel.

Today we admire the wonderful landscapes of lakes and volcanoes that this
region has to offer. In the morning visit the Petrohue Falls and after lunch we stop
at the charming lakeside town of Frutillar.

In the morning we take the ferry from the mainland to Chiloe Island, where
we should view seals and seabirds during the crossing. A highlight of today will be
the visit to Punihuil to see the Humboldt and Magellanic penguins.

A contrast in landscapes today as we leave the lushness of the Lake District
and fly north via Santiago to Calama transferring through the arid but beautiful
Atacama region to the attractive adobe-built town of San Pedro de Atacama,
located in the foothills of the Andes at 2,250 metres. Stay at the Terrantai Hotel.

Morning excursion to the small town of Toconao with its pretty whitewashed
belfry, and the Salar de Atacama. Afternoon visit to the ‘Valley of the Moon.

Free. An optional visit to the Tatio geysers, the highest geothermal field in the
world at 4,300 metres can be booked locally. (Bales does not include this tour in the
