Evening flight from London Heathrow by Royal Air Maroc via Casablanca to
Bamako, Mali’s bustling capital on the River Niger.

Arriving early this morning we transfer to the Hotel Salam (Bales have reserved
your rooms for immediate occupancy), to relax, before an afternoon tour of the city.
We visit the excellent Musée National, one of the finest in West Africa, as well as the
lively artisan market. Dinner tonight provides the opportunity to meet your fellow
travellers.

road journey to Segou takes us through some of Mali’s most fertile
landscapes, via Segoukoro, once the capital of the powerful Bambara Kings. This
afternoon we explore Segou before an overnight stay at the Hotel L’Auberge.

A morning’s drive takes us to Mopti for an afternoon tour of the city, followed
by a sunset cruise on the River Niger. Overnight at the Hotel Kanaga.

A fascinating journey by 4-wheel-drive vehicles, with a picnic lunch, to the
gates of the legendary city of Timbuktu, which needs no introduction as one of the

walking tour through the old town takes in some of the city’s old mosques
and historic buildings, before we venture out into the desert dunes to visit a Tuareg
camp. This evening we enjoy a special desert barbeque.

Early morning departure back to Mopti. Stay at the Hotel Kanaga.

Full day excursion to the staggering city of Djenné and its famous Konboro
Mosque. Our visit to this unique World Heritage Site is due to coincide with the
colourful weekly market.

Travelling into the heartland of the mysterious Dogon people, we visit the
ancient rock paintings of Songo, en route to the Hotel Campement.

We remain in our 4-wheel-drive vehicles and journey through this fascinating
landscape taking in spectacular cliff-top villages and the unique Mask Dance whilst
in the village of Amani we see the sacred caimans (crocodiles).
