English Heritage - Marrakech Short Break

Depart London Heathrow this afternoon on Royal Air Maroc flight (AT801 1710/2150 – via Casablanca) to Marrakech. Upon your arrival you’ll be met and transferred to Hotel Tichka for a three night stay

After breakfast take a guided tour of Marrakech exploring the historical quarter, food markets, hammans and much more. Centuries old, wrapped in mystery, Marrakech - "Morocco City" as the early travellers called it has always been something of a pleasure city. This marketplace was founded on the crossroads of the ancient caravan routes where the southern tribesmen and Berber villagers brought in their goods and sought entertainment. Known as "The Red Pearl of the South" because of the pink ochre colour of its buildings, Marrakech is the second Imperial capital after Fez and has been the stronghold of many powerful dynasties. This evening has been left at leisure, your guide will be happy to recommend some wonderful restaurants.

This morning you will be met by your guide and taken on a memorable drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Drive through some of the most beautiful valleys to the village of Imlil which is overlooked by the highest peak in North Africa. From here either take a gentle hike or ride a mule to a local Berber village where you will be shown and discover their very different way of life. The Berber people will teach you how to make traditional couscous and then cook you a tagine lunch followed by traditional dancing. Continue with a relaxing drive through the Atlas Mountains stopping en route at Sir Richard Branson’s Kasbah Tamadot property for tea. Return to Marrakech where we have arranged a traditional hamman (Moroccan Spa) experience. This evening we have booked a table at the renowned Dar Moha restaurant (wine and soft drinks included) where you can reminisce at you time in Marrakech.
