Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on Jet Airways flight via Delhi (8 hours 45 minutes) to Kathmandu (1 hour 25 minutes)..

Day 2
Arrive in the Nepalese capital and transfer to Dwarika’s Hotel.

Day 3
A morning tour of Kathmandu’s ancient heart and the spectacular hilltop temple of Swayambunath is followed by a free afternoon

Day 4
Fly to the remote kingdom of Bhutan this morning. On arrival in Paro transfer by road to the capital of Thimphu, for a stay at the Amankora Thimphu

Day 5
A morning’s drive up the Thimphu Valley takes you to the magnificent Taschichoe Dzong, before continuing along the valley to visit some of the country’s most important regal and monastic buildings. Back in Thimphu, there should be time to browse through the local markets selling handicrafts and textiles.

Day 6
A long drive through a majestic landscape of rhododendron-covered hills, high passes and bamboo forests to the hidden Phobjikha Valley. In afternoon visit the 16th century Gangtey Goemba. Stay at Amankora Gangtey.

Day 7
A morning visit to the nearby conservation centre for the rare Black-necked Crane, endemic to the Himalaya, is followed by the opportunity to enjoy walks and cycle rides through this breathtaking valley. Alternatively you may wish to relax around the lodge, or return to the Goemba for an audience with the Tulkul.

Day 8
Drive to the picturesque village of Wangdue and visit the local temple, before continuing to the Amankora Punakha.

Day 9
A full day in the spectacular Punakha Valley taking in rice terraces and beautiful mountain vistas, monastic citadels and remote villages.
Meals: B, L, D

Day 10
Crossing high mountain passes follow the Paro and Wang Rivers, taking in the 17th century fortress monastery of Simtokha Dzong and the ancient wall paintings of the Hongtsho Goemba. Stay at the Amankora Paro.

Day 11
Visit the National Museum, the 16th century temple and the imposing halls of the Paro Dzong. The rest of the day is free to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 12
Morning flight back to Kathmandu for overnight at Dwarika’s Hotel.

Day 13
Morning departure on Jet Airways via Delhi to London Heathrow.
