Leave London Heathrow by British Airways non-stop overnight flight to Delhi (8½ hours).

Day 2
On arrival in Delhi, your Tour Manager will meet you and take you to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Afternoon visit to the 13th century victory tower of Qutb Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, one of the earliest examples of Mughal architecture, and the colourful Chattarpur Hindu temple complex. We invite you to a welcome dinner at the hotel

Day 3
Morning tour of New Delhi, including a view of the vast complex of government buildings, designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1911 for the British Raj. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 4
Morning flight to Varanasi (1 hour 10 minutes), where we transfer to the Taj Ganges Hotel. Optional visits to Sarnath and the evening Aarti ceremony at the ghats.

Day 5
Take a dawn boat ride on the Ganges to witness the timeless scenes along the banks of the river in India’s holiest city – pilgrims ritually bathing, people practising yoga and funeral pyres burning on the famous ‘ghats’ before returning to the hotel for breakfast. Afternoon flight to Khajuraho (40 minutes) for our stay at the Taj Chandela Hotel. Later we visit the superb 10th century temples, astonishing works of sculpture.

Day 6
By way of contrast, today we travel to rural Orchha where we stay at Amar Mahal Resort (170 KM/approximately 4 hours). Afternoon sightseeing of this attractive town which is dominated by three beautiful temples.

Day 7
Morning at leisure before the short drive to Jhansi (16 KM/approximately 30 minutes, from where we take the train to Agra (217 KM/ approximately 2½ hours). Our stay in Agra is at the Trident Hilton Hotel.

This morning we visit the spectacular Taj Mahal and the imposing Agra Fort. A further optional visit to the Taj at sunset can be arranged.

Day 9
Our journey by road today takes us into Rajasthan to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, en route visiting the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri (233 KM/a full day with stops). Sightseeing this afternoon includes the opulent City Palace of the Maharajah. Our stay is at the Trident Hilton Hotel

Day 10
After breakfast, we view the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) on the way to Amber, the dramatic hill-top fortress of the Rajput rulers just outside Jaipur.

This morning we fly via Delhi to Kathmandu (2 hours 15 minutes), capital of the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal, for our stay at the Radisson Hotel.

Visit the sacred Temple of Swayambhunath before walking through the ancient centre of the capital, including Durbar Square with its wealth of important monuments. Afternoon at leisure.
