Day 1
Depart London Heathrow this evening on a Thai Airways via Bangkok.

Day 2
Connect with onward flight to Yangon this morning, arriving in the former capital early evening, where we transfer to the Shangri-La Traders Hotel.

Day 3
Morning visit to Sule Pagoda and the markets of Rangoon’s old colonial quarter. After lunch visit the sacred site of the dominating gilded Shwe Dagon Pagoda, which legend says is 2,500 years old, to watch the sunset.

Day 4
Free day, with option to visit Bago, travelling via Taukkyan, the largest war cemetery in Myanmar and the impressive Shwemawdaw Pagoda

Day 5
We fly to Bagan this morning for our stay at the Thiripyitsaya Sakura Hotel.
Meals: B, L

Day 6
Full day’s sightseeing of Bagan and its fabulous archaeological ruins. Comparable with the great Temples of Angkor, there are more than 2,000 pagodas and at least the same number again of ancient temple ruins.

Day 7
Today is free, perhaps taking an optional visit to Mount Popa and Salay.

Day 8
Embarking the Paukan 2007 for a 2-night cruise along the Irrawaddy River, lunch is served shortly after we set sail and this afternoon we visit a river village.

Day 9
Full day’s cruising along Myanmar’s captivating riverside landscapes, passing Mingun Pagoda and Sagaing Temple and stopping off at Yandabo village en route, a picturesque settlement famed for its locally made pottery. Continuing up river the boat moors up for the night at a traditional village close to the Ava Bridge.

Day 10
Disembarking the boat in Mandalay we transfer to the Sedona Hotel. This afternoon we tour the city, including the Mahamuni Pagoda and Mandalay Hill.

Day 11
A full day tour of the ancient cities of Ava and Amarapura, former capitals of the Burmese Kingdom, very different but equally fascinating sites.

Day 12
Today is free with the option to visit the beautiful landscapes and famous gardens around Maymyo, an old colonial hill station in the Shan Hills.

Day 13
After a leisurely morning fly to Yangon and transfer to the Traders Hotel.
Meals: B

Day 14
Day at leisure. Your room is reserved until the evening departure to the airport for Thai Airways flight via Bangkok to London Heathrow arriving the following morning.

Day 15
Arrive London Heathrow in the early morning.
