Japan

Travelling in autumn is a great time to witness the autumn colours which bathe Japan’s landscape. Two of the best places to view these colours lie in Kyoto and Hiroshima. Jingo-ji Temple in Kyoto offers a breathtaking view over the valley of the Kiyotaki-gawa rich in the red leaves of the old trees such as Takao-kaede (maple trees) whilst Momijidani-koen Park in Hiroshima is true to its name; valley of the autumn leaves. Wild deer are also found in the park, while 1,000 maple trees of five different varieties show off their beautiful colours.

Kerala

First thoughts of Kerala in October and November are of floating along the backwaters in a traditional houseboat or strolling through spice plantations breathing in the scent of harvested peppercorns, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Yet Kerala also boasts some 370 km of stunning sun-kissed beaches. Marari in particular is bordered by swaying palms and is a great spot to enjoy freshly caught fish in a sunny and pleasant climate. November also marks a spectacular 7 day festival in Palakkad where beautifully decorated temple chariots are drawn through the streets by thousands of devotees.

Mexico

Mexico can be visited all year round but in October and November the temperatures are less hot and humid and the Mexicans peak holiday dates are finished. You can really experience the Mexican vibe everyday, there is a rich culture where music, food and community play an integral part in their way of life. Egypt

Egypt during the autumn and winter months (October to December) are definitely departure dates to be considered. Temperatures are cooler than the summer months allowing for a more pleasurable experience when visiting the magnificent sites Egypt has to offer, from the grandeur of the Pyramids to the clear warm waters and captivating corals of the Red Sea. For budding photographers out there November is recognised as a wonderful month for travel, the sun has a tendency of lingering low in the sky offing up a beautiful scarlet sky.

Brazil

As we enter autumn, Brazilis welcoming in the spring which is the perfect time to visit with good weather. Spring weather means warm days in São Paulo, Iguaçu, Rio and tropical heat everywhere else. Rio offers an extra pull with the opportunity to attend some of the samba school rehearsals as they get ready for the famed February Rio Carnival.  It is also the best time to visit Iguassu falls, set against a backdrop of exuberant rainforest and clouds of soaking mist following the winding jungle trails to the base of the thundering cascades of the Devil's Throat.
